Hey... guess WHAT? Swimming out in the ocean is a bit more difficult than swimming at the YMCA! DUH!
As soon as the meetings let out around 5 pm yesterday, I sprinted up the stairs to my room, changed, and sprinted down to the beach. The water was hovering around 69 degrees and felt really nice as I toed in. There wasn't too much chop at that time but the wind was kicking up pretty quickly. As I started out... and the sun was reflecting off the water... I realized that this was the first time in my entire life that I'd actually swum... uhhh... swam... ummm swimdid? in the ocean. I mean yes, I've played in the waves and screwed around... but I've never entered the ocean with the sole purpose of getting a workout. It's also quite a bit different than swimming at Dexter Reservoir... there's waves... and currents... it was totally bizarre to me. I did find a nice rhythm eventually and enjoyed 40 minutes of non-stop, no turn-around type swimming. What I found coming out of the water was two things: 1) I was freakin COLD, and 2) I was WAY tired! It really took it out of me... surprisingly so. I hustled off the beach and into the jacuzzi poolside.
After warming up a bit I had to run up to my room, put on the monkey suit, (suit n tie... barf), and get my fanny to the President's Club dinner where I rubbed elbows with the big-wigs and watched people consume copious amounts of alcohol. Good times...
This afternoon I've got a high cadence run (96/min) for 40 min. Supposed to be in the high 70's! Time for the pale, skinny guy to terrorize the board-walk again!
Breathe...

Look me up bro!
an open water swim in the ocean will make you never want to get in the chlorine torture chamber again!
enjoy the run... and Heart-rate monitor strap tan lines are cool... no matter what anybody says.
oh crap...yea, 69 is wetsuit water for sure! It was a 65 or so degree open ocean swim that prompted my wetsuit purchase to beting with.
oh you got a monkey suit all right
Who did you play "Charlaaa" and "Fooozaaa" with?
Bigun coming over to join you or anything?
Maybe it's too far for him to drive on his lawnmower.
